(EN) : Flame cells (protonephridia): Three flame cells and their attachement to the excretory canal and pore (left) and detailed features of a flame cell (right). Flame cells are specialized excretory cells that function in osmoregulation and excretion. Their name originates from the appearance of a flickering flame under a microscope by their cluster of cilia.

(FR) : Cellules de flamme (protonéphridies) : Trois cellules de flamme et leur fixation au canal et au pore excréteurs (à gauche) et caractéristiques détaillées d'une cellule de flamme (à droite). Les cellules de flamme sont des cellules excrétrices spécialisées qui participent à l'osmorégulation et à l'excrétion. Leur nom vient de l'aspect vacillant de leur faisceau de cils au microscope.
