SERVE AS MARKERS & REFERENCE POINTS FOR TRANSITMEN RUNNING A TANGENT ON A SURVEY LINE. HUBS ARE PLACED AT EACH ANGLE IN THE LINE, & AT CONVENIENT POINTS BETWEEN (IE. AT THE TOP OF A RISE), WHERE THE TRANSITMAN HAS VISIBILITY FORWARD & BACKWARD. SIGHTING FROM HUB TO HUB THE LINE IS ADVANCED. AT THE END OF EACH TANGENT WHERE THE LINE CHANGES DIRECTION THE ANGLE IS ACCURATELY MEASURED
