"COME ALONG MEN!" Recruitment Poster

Title

"COME ALONG MEN!" Recruitment Poster

Description

This Poster encouraged white men to join the Army and fight overseas, using themes like masculinity and duty to entice impressionable young men. Unlike white Canadians, Black Canadians weren't allowed in the majority of military units and were forced into the No. 2 Construction Battalion, focused on labour and not combat. On the one hand, white people were welcomed as soldiers, whereas Black men had their opportunities greatly limited within the military.
