Description
This item has been rebound at least once since its initial binding, this being demonstrated by evidence that the text block has been cut to fit a newer binding. The current binding is on calfskin which has been dyed green. While it is usually morocco leathers, that is, goatskin leathers, that are dyed a variety of colours, it is not unknown for calfskin to undergo a similar aesthetic treatment. Calfskin was less expensive leather than morocco and this was probably an attempt by the book’s owner to have a colourful binding at less cost. The colour of the original calfskin is to be seen along the edges, most likely due to the loss of dye on exposure to sunlight.
