Besides the wish to keep track of the origin and physical journey of the book, it was also a way to assert ownership of the copy to anyone who might want to usurp that. Here we read: “Ce livre nous a été donné de nottre maison de Paris il nous appartient aux sœurs de Vilenne” in another hand: “Ce livre Appartient” et finally, it in yet another ink: “Ce livre appartient aux sœurs de la charité de Villenne”. (“This book was given to our House in Paris; it belongs to the Sisters of Vilenne”; “This book belongs to”; “This book belongs to the Sisters of Charity of Vilenne”). The Sisters of Clarity of Villennes were located near Saint-Germain en Laye in France. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration:underline;"&gt;Français&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ce livre offre un exemple du type d’inscription que l’on retrouve parfois dans les livres des communautés religieuses et qui vise à démontrer la propriété à qui voudrait la revendiquer. Ici on peut lire « Ce livre nous aétté donné de nottre maison de Paris il nous appartient aux sœurs de Vilenne ». Puis d’une autre main « Ce livre Appartient » et finalement avec une encre différente encore. « Ce livre appartient aux sœurs de la charité de Villenne ». Il s’agit en fait des sœurs de la Charité de Villennes, près de Saint-Germain en Laye en France.</text>
