(EN) : External anatomy of the northern hemisphere parasitic species: The individual on the left is a male who was very near to spawning and the individual on the right is a female that was spawning when caught. Their total body lengths are approximately 18 cm for the female and slightly larger at around 22 cm for the male (as he is not spawning yet). The length bar is not on this picture, but the oral disc of the female is approximately 1 cm cross just to give you an idea of the size of their head region.

(FR) : Anatomie externe de l’espèce parasitaire de l’hémisphère nord: L’individu à gauche est un mâle qui était sur le point de frayer et l’individu à droite est une femelle qui frayait au moment de la capture. Leur longueur totale respective est d’environ 18 cm pour la femelle et légèrement plus grande à environ 22 cm pour le mâle (puisqu’il ne frayait pas encore). L’échelle n’est pas incluse sur l’image, mais le disque buccal de la femelle fait environ 1 cm d’un côté à l’autre, ce qui donne une idée de la taille de leur tête.
