(EN) : Life cycles of a lytic bacteriophage (left) and lysogenic bacteriophage (right). In the lytic cycle, the phage rapidly replicates within the host cell, leading to the cell's destruction and release of new phage particles. In the lysogenic cycle, the phage's DNA is integrated into the host's genome, where it remains dormant and is replicated alongside the host's DNA.

Lors du cycle lytique, le phage se réplique rapidement dans la cellule hôte, entraînant sa destruction et la libération de nouvelles particules. Lors du cycle lysogène, l'ADN du phage est intégré au génome de l'hôte, où il reste dormant et se réplique parallèlement à l'ADN de l'hôte.
