Une information parue dans le journal "La Presse" de Montréal annonce que la "SOCIETE DES ECRIVATES CANADIENS" aurait invité M. DUHAMEL à faire une tournée au Canada. Il s'agit en l'espèce (908) d'une société d'inspiration vichyste.
J'ai souligné dans ma lettre le grand intérêt qu'il y aurait à ce que des personnes de premier (ordre), telles que MM. DUHAMEL, MAURIAC, SINGFRIED, viennent dans le courant de l'hiver au Canada en qualité de conférenciers officiels de l'ALLIANCE FRANÇAISE, pour (M. prendre) à cette institution la vie et l'éclat qu'elle a perdus au cours de ces dernières (909) années.
Le sentiment est ici fréquemment exprimé que la libération de la France doit permettre de satisfaire de nouveau la curiosité (émouvante) qu'éprouve le public canadien à l'égard des grands esprits français. D'après la même source, le Général SPEARS vient d'offrir (403) au Gouvernement français de mettre à sa disposition un ... anglais pour organiser le port de Lattaquieh. Le Gouvernement syrien aurait tendance à accepter cette offre. Il craint toutefois que les Britanniques n'en profitent pour contrôler le port de Lattaquieh comme ils l'ont fait à Alexanurette.

a succédé véritable guerre civile. Quelques milliers réfugiés poli-
tiques (situé à St. Guatemala vers frontière salvadore-gne avec accord
et, dit-on, des armes fournies par le Mexique et le Guatemala. Des
engagements auraient eu lieu et plusieurs villes frontières seraient
pouvoir insurgés.
(18914) Gouvernement actuel n'a été reconnu que par les
dictatures du Honduras, Nicaragua, et Espagne.
Les graves incidents de la légation de France ont eu
profonde répercussion dans opinion publique. Ministre Affaires

Je réponds à votre communiqué no 45 du 16 octobre.
I. D'après les informations reçues de notre représentant à Madrid, la presse a étrangement grossi les incidents dont l'Espagne a pu être le théâtre. Il semble aujourd'hui que la situation soit calmée, au moins en apparence. Pour le moment, l'ordre est maintenu, bien qu'il existe un malaise latent et que dans certains milieux on s'attende à une crise prochaine.
II. La nombre (5063) des partisans espagnols en France est à l'heure actuelle d'environ 10.000 hommes stationnés dans le sud-ouest et principalement le long de la frontière des Pyrénées.
III. Les autorités locales françaises ont fait montre de sympathie pour les maquis espagnols, qui s'inspirent du même idéal démocratique que notre peuple. Elles n'entendent pas ... autant que favoriser la (5 groups unreadable) (5064) les relations que nous entretenons avec l'Espagne gouvernementale. Si la France n'a aucune raison de favoriser le maintien du régime Général FRANCO, elle ne désire pas non plus que se crée à sa frontière un foyer de trouble chronique.
IV. Les Espagnols ayant coopéré d'une manière véritablement efficace avec les Forces Françaises de l'Intérieur sont au nombre de cinq à six mille approximativement.
V. Des engagements ont pu être pris, pendant la période qui a précédé la libération, envers certains (5065) républicains espagnols sur le plan local mais le Gouvernement, qui n'entend pas intervenir entre les divers éléments de l'U. espagnol, se borne à leur manifester à tous une égale sympathie, en les faisant bénéficier d'un droit d'asile interprété de la façon la plus libérale.
J'approuve l'attitude que vous avez adoptée à l'égard des réfugiés espagnols qui vous font part de leur désir de venir à présent en France.
