Les journaux des deux (langues) commencent à manifester leur inquiétude en présence des revera britanniques que beaucoup qualifient de désastres. Ila s'appliquent à rechercher la cause: infériorité en matériel ... disent la plupart (pourquoi vanter notre production en masse si elle est de moins bonne qualité?); infériorité en commandement reste routinière ...ent les autres. Tout en maintenant le dogme de la supériorité du soldat anglais, quelques-unsas demandent s'il est animé du moral nécessaire pour bien se battre.

Bref, à la suite de l'exemple américain l'esprit critique évité jusqu'ici avec soin se fait jour. On s'étonne qu'après trois ans d'expérience l'état-major n'ait pas mieux profité des sévères leçons déjà reçues.

Le Département d'Etat, malgré plusieurs rappels, ne répond pas à notre demande de visa de transit pour M. GALLAT, consul à Vancouver, chargé des fonctions de secrétaire d'ambassade au (Guatemala) à la suite de la fermeture de notre consulat au Canada.

Avant d'intervenir de nouveau, j'attacherais du prix à savoir s'il est exact que notre ... refuse un visa de transit à un fonctionnaire américain se rendant de Lisbonne à la legation des E.C. à Berne pour la seule raison qu'il a fait partie du personnel d'un consulat américain en Allemagne ou en pays occupé fermé à la requête des autorités allemandes.

Dans l'affirmative, et si notre décision était définitive nous n'aurions aucune chance d'obtenir le visa demandé pour M. GALLAT.

C. Le Ministerre de la Guerre économique a (2553) donné un accord définitif au débarquement de 3,000 tonnes de charbon à Casablanca pour l'usage des chemins de fer du Maroc français.
D. Vu le volume des fûts ... embarqués sur l'ILE d'OUESSANT, ce navire ne pourra charger que 5,000 tonnes de charbon. Ce tornage est arrivé aujourd'hui à Norfolk. Or il n'y a pas de ...âge possible dans ce port et la Compagnie... du chemin de fer de (Tanger) à (Fez)</text>

Les dépêches de Londres de ce matin indiquent que le problème des navires de guerre français internés à Alexandrie préoccupe vivement la Grande Bretagne.

Le correspondant du NSS YORK TIMES note que l'Amirauté britannique est décidée de ne pas laisser un butin de guerre aussi considérable tomber ... entre les mains de l'Axe. Il indique aussi que les bateaux sont non seulement retenus mais probablement immobilisés. ... :- "Si la situation empire encore les Anglais eux-mêmes (vont) saborder les navires français". La presse américaine (2570) appuie généralement cette suggestion. Ainsi le WASHINGTON POST dans un éditorial écrit:-
"Si ces bateaux tombent entre les mains allemandes (ils seront) remis en service avec au sans les consentement de Vichy. Il est donc douteux que les Anglais soient disposés à laisser à HITLER un tel présent."

L'amiral Sir ANDREW CUNNINGHAM, nouveau chef de la mission
navale britannique à Washington, a donné hier une conférence de presse
au cours de laquelle il aurait déclaré que "Si les Allemands prenaient Ala
Alexandrie, les marins français saborderaient certainement leurs bateaux
internes dans ce port." L'amiral a ajouté par ailleurs que "l'...
majorité des officiers et marins français à Alexandrie étaient absolument
loyaux au régime de Vichy et suivaient à la lettre les instructions de
leur chef, partisan obstiné du Maréchal PETAIN". L'amiral a fait
d'ailleurs le plus grand éloge de l'amiral GODFROY, qu'il a décrit comme
