Aucune nouvelle information offisielle relative au problème des bateaux français d'ALEXANDRIE n'a pu être obtemshier a WASHINGTON. ... comme Mr. CORDELL HULL l'a indiqué des son retour (il semble) que le Gouvernement américain réexamine actuellement, après la publication des notes francoaméricaines, tout l'ensemble de la situation.

Il est a noter pourtant que ce matin certains comentateurs de radio mentionnent, a titre d'(opinion) personnelle, la possibilite d'un (compronts) qui, disent-ils, pourrait être (acceptable) au Gouvernement frangais demandant le (déplacenent) des bateaux d'ALEXANDRIE vers un port frangais. D'apres ces comentateurs l'envol de navires a ... sous la sauvegarde américaine pourrait être la solution a l'impasse actuelle si les Anglais consentent a l'accepter.

Par ailleurs le critique militaire du PHILADELPHIA RECORD le major PRATT estime (2783) que les E.U. cherchent dans l'affaire d'(ALEXANDRIE) "cette chose angulière que l'on appelle une victoire diplomatique". Il note que l'attaque anglaise sur la flotte frangais e en 1940 "a eu un déplorable effet de propagande auprès des nations de l'Amérique du Sud et même dans ce pays".
