La pression américaine sur les puissances restées (neutres) se fait de plus en plus vive. Le moindre incident sert de prétexte à (des) polémiques. C'est ainsi que la mesure d'expulsion prise par les autorités argentines à l'(égard) de l'auteur et conférencier américain, WALDO FRANK, dont l'attitude avait été jugée inamicale par Buenos Aires est commentée avec indignation par la presse de ce matin qui se livre à une violente attaque contre l'un des derniers neutres de cet hémisphère.
A titre (2907) d'exemple on peut citer le PHILADELPHIA RECORD qui, ayant énuméré une longue liste de (torts) (reconnaissance du blocus allemand de la côte est des E.U., refus de participer au système de convois dans l'Atlantique, fermeture des diffusions de radio étrangères, ravitaillement de l'Allemagne par le truchement de l'accord du ... avec l'Espagne, maintien des relations diplomatiques avec les puissances de l'Axe), conclut en disant :- "Il est temps de (2908) montrer à l'Argentine que son intention de jouer le rôle de Vichy américain ne lui rapportera rien." Les rumeurs les plus vagues sont exploitées. Hier (l'Argentine) a été violemment prise à partie par M. Le (commentat)eur militaire du NEW YORK HERALD TRIBUNE se fait aujourd'hui l'écho des préoccupations qui (obsêdent) ceux sur qui repose la re-ponsabilité de l'ouverture d'un second front. Le commandant ELIOT insiste notamment sur l'impossibilité de prendre une décision aussi longtemps que les Russes refuseront de faire connaitre à leurs alliés leur réserve en hommes et en matériel.
Certains milieux de Washington semblent craindre en effet que les Russes, ayant mis tout en oeuvre pour l'obtenir, tirent prétexte de l'échec d'un second front pour signer une paix séparée sans que leur prestige ait trop à souffrir.
