L'Office of War Information fait le point au sujet de l'effort de guerre des E.U.

Il indique notamment que le tonnage des navires coulés pendant la première moitié de l'année a dépassé de beaucoup les constructions nouvelles. Toutefois les (deux) mois juin et juillet ont (indiqué) des progrès importants dans la construction de navires, et en juillet, la courbe des torpillages dans les diverses mers a commencé de baisser. Toutefois, la production de petits navires pour la lutte contre les sous-marins est restée en juin inférieure de moitié aux pronostics. Même si les progrès (2964) dans les constructions navales continuent et que les torpillages décroissent, le tonnage marchand existant le 7 décembre 1941 ne pourra être reconstruit avant qu'une partie de l'année 1943 ne se soit (passée).

Enfin, la production de chars, d'avions, d'artillerie et de navires est restée en juin légèrement inférieure aux pronostics, les disponibilités en matières premières ayant été inférieures (aux) capacités de production des usines.

Le MONT EVERET devant quitter New-York le 21 de ce mois, j'interviens auprès des autorités américaines pour essayer d'obtenir l'autorisation de charger sur le bateau de la Croix-Rouge en question le médicament commandé par les établissements BYLA et je (vous) tiendrai au courant de l'accueil réservé à cette demande.
