Un communiqué du quartier général japonais a annoncé hier que le Japon avait occupé le groupe d'fles KAI, TANIKBAR et ANGE, a 150 milles de la partie nord-ouest de la Nouvelle Guiné, e t a 300 milles de la côte australienne.
En même temps que cette nouvelle, la presse publie une déclaration de M. WILLIAM MORRIS HUGHES, chef du parti uni australien, critiquant le caractère défensif de la stratégie des Nations Unies dans le sud-ouest du Pacifique et faisant ressortir (2946) la progression continue japonaise en Nouvelle Guiné et en Papouasie.
Dans sa réponse à cette déclaration, (la premier ministre) a fait ressortir que pour diverses raisons, parmi lesquelles l'envoi de matériaux de guerre sur un des autres théatres d'opérations, il n'avait pas été possible jusqu'ici d'alimenter une politique offensive.
En même temps que toutes ces indications, le NEW-FORK TIMES publie un article de son correspondant en Australie, d'après lequel l'aviation américaine sur ce continent ne représentait pas plus de trois jours de la production américaine actuelle soit environ 350 avions, et que l'ensemble du matériel envoyé en

Le corps expéditionnaire américain compensait seulès les forces australiennes utilisées hors du continent et le ... de navires à la disposition de l'Australie ne fera que remplacer les pertes subies par ce pays.
Il est à noter enfin que le général d'aviation américaine BRERETON qui se trouverait aux Indes avec les forces d'aviation destinées à aider la Chine, a été signalé comme combattant maintenant dans le Proche Orient. Il semble donc bien qu'une partie du matériel destiné à la Chine, comme du matériel destiné à l'Australie, ait été (dirigée) sur le Proche Orient.

source gaulliste de l'ASSOCIATED PRESS, le Gouvernement français aurait accepté de livrer à l'Allemagne tous les Juifs "(soi-disant) d'origine étrangère" se trouvant en France occupée et les 10,000 Juifs de la zône non-occupée.
De même source, on annonce que 3,600 Juifs se trouvant déjà dans les camps à Gers, à Rivesaltes et à (2942) Vernet avaient été désignés pour être départés, d'autres seraient sur le point de quitter Pau, Perpignan et Marseille. Enfin des arrestations en masse auraient été opérées dimanche à Lyon.
D'autre part (2943) un télégramme de la U.P. de Vichy du $1^{\text {er }}$ août, retardé dans sa transmission, prétend que les autorités allemandes auraient ordonné la stérilisa-
