Le Gouvernement français proteste contre une mesure ... d'autant plus grave qu'aux yeux du Gouvernement mexicain elle devrait comporter le transfert définitif de propriété du "MERCPE".

Il demande en tout cas que le Gouvernement mexicain verse immédiatement au compte de la France auprès de la Banque Nationale Suisse une indemnité de réquisition représentant la contre-valeur en francs suisses de 1,500,000 dollars (somme dont fait état votre tél. 101).

Il désire d'autre part recevoir toute précision sur la disposition que compte prendre le Gouvernement mexicain pour le rapatriement de l'équipage du "MERCPE".

ations faites par W. WELLES au sujet (de) la flotte française a
ALEXANDRIE.
Le N.Y. TIMES fólicite le Secrétaire d'Etat par intérim d'avoir profité de la fête nationale française pour indiquer avec plus de ... qu'il ne (l'avait) jamais fait que "les Etats-Unis n'essaient même plus de prétendre qu'ils maintiennent avec VICHY des relations amicales".

Le corres ondant de WASHINGTON du TIMES-MERALD estime de son cîtó que "les relations diplomatiques (entre les) EtatsUnis et VICHY, qui sont depuis longtemps proches du point de rupture ont atteint hier leur crise finale".

Il apparait que toutes ces ... contraires ne soient pas (2731) celles du Département d'Etat. De façon tout à fait officieuse et en demandant de ne pas être cité, SUNNER WELLES a conseillé aux journalistes de ne faire aucune référence à la possibilité d'une rupture que WASHINGTON, malgré l'apparence, ne semble pas désirer provoquer à l'heure actuelle.

La conversion du mouvement France Libre en " La France Combattante " a reçu généralement l'approbation des journaix, qui estiment que cette modification situera définitivement le mouvement gaulliste sur le seul terrain militaire. Le CHICAGO SUN ... que (le Gouvernement américain) ne tarde pas néanmoins à briser avec Vichy mais il déconseille tout autant la reconnaissance politique de SE GAULLE " qui manque trop de sens politique et n'est pas connu des Français. Ce qu'il faut aux Français Libres, c'est un autre chef." Le seul commentaire favorable est celui de M. SIMNS dans la presse SCRIPPS-HOWARD. "Certains observateurs pensent que la France est tombée en raison de trahison (2729) parmi ses (chefs). Mais la France a été battue à cause de la faiblesse due à une politique corrompue, à l'excès d'internationalisme et à son manque d'hommes d'état. Elle est tombée aussi parce que l'Angleterre était devenue ... et que son autre allié, la Russie, avait encouragé au début l'agression allemande. Que pouvait faire la France dans une telle alliance? Malgré cette infortune les ... de la nation sont aussi bons qu'au temps de ROUGET DE LIERNI.
