La démission du Ministre des Affaires étrangères argentin a ... dans les milieux officiels du Chili une attitude de prudente (réserve). Cette réserve se reflète également dans la presse locale qui, tout en donnant place importante aux dépenses traitant de la situation argentine, se garde de tout commentaire. Toutefois le grand journal chilien El Mercurio dont les éditoriums en matière politique étrangère sont souvent d'inspiration officiel (à cru) devoir laisser paraître avec beaucoup d'agrément ce qui est tenu pour le désir intime des dirigeants chiliens: le retour en Argentine à une normalité politique suffisante, ce qui permetrait au gouvernement chilien adopter une attitude de rapprochement plus ouverte à l'égard de la république voisine sans avoir à craindre d'irriter les Etats-Unis.
