The first session of the Syrian commission in charge of examining the French plan for a "convention universitaire" was held in Damascus on April 19th. The French delegate is very pleased with the choice of members, who are all of European education and likely to be sympathetic towards the French point of view. DJEMIL MARDAM expressed the hope that "other questions" might soon be discussed, which the delegate interprets as meaning the problem of the army.
