Au cours de la séance du Sénat, le Sénateur
BUSHFIELD a protesté contre restriction à quatre sièges
permanents réservés aux Etats-Unis, à la Grande-Bretagne,
la Russie et la Chine du conseil international envisagé à
conférence Dumbarton Oaks. Le Sénateur CONNALLY a
répondu que ce projet se justifie par le fait que ces
quatre pays ont versé leur sang au bénéfice du reste du
monde.

"France", a-t-il ajouté, "s'est conduite comme
un petit pays dans cette guerre. Elle a offert un (5494)
spectacle lamentable lorsque son armée de 3.000.000 hommes
qu'on pensait entraînée et équipée s'est effondrée comme
un château de cartes. Je pense (.w. que la) France devrait
faire un petit apprentissage pour gagner droit à un siège
permanent au conseil."

Le Sénateur CONNALLY est président de la
commission des Affaires étrangères du Sénat.
