The director-general of the department has called, this morning, one of my co-workers and has brought to light the fact that the chancellery of the Turkish embassy in Moscow had received 15 April a telephone call from the bureau BIM, which takes care of diplomatic buildings, apprising him of the fact that our embassy would be re-assigned that very day to a representative from the Algiers committee. The foreign minister has asked his ambassador to Moscow to address a note to the Soviet Government expressing his surprise that such a step had been taken without first officially informing the Turkish Government of the situation, whereas this government had assumed the protection of French interest in agreement with the Soviet Government.
