I should like, upon the express request of the person concerned, and, moreover, for material reasons, M. DORGET to be assigned to the Peking Embassy and not to the Shanghai Consulate; I should therefore appreciate Your Excellency's making available for him the post of first secretary in Peking by assigning to M. LERUCH another with a similar salary. M. DESCOURTILS would carry on all the duties of second secretary at Peking and M. DE LAURENS those of second secretary at Tokyo; I have pointed out to Your Excellency how much I desired this. M. DE MARGERIE agrees to M. DORGET'S appointment to Peking. I expect to leave for Tokyo during the month of June. M. DE BOISSESON will follow me there in July, the time at which M.
