De la part de l'attaché militaire.

Les (événements) militaires qui se sont déroulés en Chine
en juin 1944 soulignent, par leur développement même, l'interdépendance
cruissante des divers théâtres d'opérations dans le Pacifique et
en Asie orientale.

Paute de pouvoir débloquer à temps par voie terrestre les
forces chinoises en rouvrant la route de Birmanie, les Américains
cherchent à atteindre le continent par mer et par air, en formant
un couloir de sécurité dans le Pacifique central en direction des
Philippines et de Formose.

En ce faisant, ils se proposent d'utiliser les bases
aériennes et l ... des provinces côtières du sud de la Chine
pour couper de la façon la plus efficace et en plein centre les
communications maritimes et aériennes du Japon avec les mers
sud ...
