Le NEW YORK TIMES publie une interview du (jeune) Major-général
CLARK qui commande les forces de terre en Europe.
Le général déclare:- "Nous sommes ici pour une action offensive. On parle d'un second front. Le plus tôt possible sera le mieux. Nos troupes subissent un entraînement intensif pour des opérations amphibies. Théoriquement les troupes ne sont pas composées d'éléments spécialement choisis, mais leurs cadres ont été particulièrement spécialement sélectionnés. Il y a une quantité d'officiers d'état-major destinés à former d'autres états-majors."

Le général a conclu en disant que l'entraînement des troupes américaines était très supérieur à celui des corps expéditionnaires de 1917.
