LA BANQUE DU MEXIQUE examine la possibilité d'effectuer le transfert de nos $737,000 à Berne au moyen d'une vente d'or sur la place de Rio de Janeiro plutôt que Buenos Aires. Le cours du change serait moins élevé et le délai plus court.

Si le Brésil accepte, il y aurait intérêt à ce que je puisse donner immédiatement la confirmation de mon ordre à la BANQUE DU MEXIQUE. Au cas contraire le transfert ne pourra se faire que par l'intermédiaire de Buenos Aires, au cours précédemment exposé, (198) car les Suisses ne (détiennent) ni dollars à New York, ni or, argent ou pesos à Mexico.

Je serais reconnaissant à V.M. de bien vouloir me faire tenir ses instructions. Dans les milieux bancaires locaux, on estime qu'étant donné la pénurie de francs suisses sur la place de Mexico, le cours du change mentionné dans mon télégramme du 16 octobre n'est pas anormal.
