Suite à engagement 12 novembre (mon télégramme no. 753 du 16 novembre) marine japonaise a traqué 13 novembre aérodromes, installations militaires de Guadalcanal. 14 novembre au nord-ouest cette île escadre japonaise escortant transport rencontre importante escadre ennemie comprenant notamment 2 cuirassés et 4 croiseurs lourds. (759) Dans cette troisième bataille Salomon et dans journée du 13, pertes américaines sont 8 croiseurs, 4 ou 5 torpilleurs, 1 transport coulés, 2 cuirassés, 3 croiseurs, 3 ou 4 torpilleurs, 3 transports avariés, 63 avions abattus et plus de 10 détruits au sol.
