- to take over familiarize themselves with their duties, and rights acquired under French rule are to be (recognized ?). No measures will be taken by the British authorities against those inhabitants who have taken part in the struggle. The British authorities also agree ----- not to exercise any pressure, either civil or military, in trying to persuade our compatriots to rally to de Gaulle.

For consolation, we have at least the proof that we were forced (to yield by superior ?) armaments, to the honour of (our soldier ?) who struggled to the extreme limit of their power.
During the negotiations our representative, General de Verdillac, succeeded in (weakening ?) the influence of General Catroux, the representative of de Gaulle, with the British military authorities who now seem to have only esteem for those (Frenchmen who resisted ?).
