Message No. 453.
The Press announces the 'coup de force' of the dissident party on St. Pierre. Most papers say that it was unsupported by the allied governments who were surprised by it. Such is the declaration by the Prime Minister. Certain papers raise the attitude of the United States and reprint the declaration of the State Department describing the action as arbitrary and contrary to the existing treaty.
