Par tólegramme du 9 juin, 1941, adressé a' notre consul, New York. ... le directeur général des Beaux-Arts avait bien voulu fixer à 15,000 francs par mois le traitement de M. BATIGNE, pour le " ... " De DAVID à nos jours" ... M. BATIGNE me signale que cette somme, qui lui permettrait de ... a ses besoins en ..., est totalement insuffisante pour Washington où il se trouve maintenant et où la vie est considérablement plus chére qu'en ouest. Etant donne que M. BATIGNE s'acquitte par ailleurs avec le plus grand ... et la plus grande ... de la mission qui lui a été confiée et qu'il ne reçoit aucune indemnité pour ses frais de ..., je serais reconnaissant à V.E. de bien vouloir porter à 20,000 francs par mois le crédit mensuel du à M. BATIGNE (pour les) 3 mois qu'il se trouvera a Washington. HENRY HAYE.
