J'apprends par une conversation téléphonique (transmise) par la Nouvelle-Orléans que M. et MME. CAMPBELL JOHNSTON résidant à la Havane ont été arrêtés. Le citoyen américain qui a été alerté à cet égard est un Louisianais, argent défenseur de la France et de son Gouvernement.

Je rappelle à V.E. que M. CAMPBELL JOHNSTON est sujet britannique mais que MME. (C). JOHNSTON est Française. Cette dernière, admiratrice (fervente) du Maréchal, a qui elle envoyée un (coffre)t (soulpté à cette intention, multipliait ses activités au Cuba pour défendre la politique à laquelle il a attaché (3736) son nom. Son mari, bien que britannique, partageait entièrement ses vues et les affirme ouvertement au (group omitted) du ... à la Havane. C'est sous ce prétexte (qu'ils ont) été incarcérés. Je serais reconnaissant à V.E. de vérifier que MME. JOHNSTON est restée titulaire d'un passeport français. Je pris V.E. d'intervenir en sa faveur auprès de la légation cubaine à Vichy. MME. JOHNSTON ayant sollicité la protection des autorités françaises.
