Les intéressantes indications de votre AL 374 du 5 se trouvent confirmées par des renseignements de notre représentant à Stockholm. D'après celui-ci la Suède sera de plus en plus favorable à une intervention militaire en Norvège. Mais le Département serait toujours décidé à ne pas entrer en guerre contre l'Allemagne.

Il attendrait que la cessation des hostilités soit proclamée par les Alliés, de telle sorte qu'une intervention militaire suédoise revêtit le caractère d'une opération de police.

Je vous communique en clair, le texte du communiqué du Conseil des Ministres relatif l'incident de Stuttgart dont vous avez dû être informé par les agences de presse.

Ce communiqué exprime nettement la position du Gouvernement dans cette affaire. Vous pourrez donc vous en inspirer pour répondre aux questions qui vous seraient posées.

Au surplus, M. JEANNENEY a reçu hier matin M. JEFFERSON CAFFERY. Il lui a représenté (2935) qu'à défaut d'un accord général relatif l'occupation de l'Allemagne c'est à nos troupes, qui avaient pris Stuttgart, qu'il appartenait de l'administrer, ainsi qu'il avait d'ailleurs été convenu antérieurement avec EISENHOWER.

Elles sauraient d'autant moins être sommées de se retirer que le retard mis à la détermination des zones respectives d'occupation ne nous est aucunement imputé.

Propositions françaises ont été (2936) présentées le 9 février; elles ont été depuis lors rappelées à plusieurs reprises; elles sont encore sans réponse du Gouvernement américain.

L'incident de Stuttgart illustre les complications (presque) inévitables auxquelles cet atermoiement (nous) expose. M. JEANNENEY a insisté pour que les zones d'occupation française, britannique, américaine et russe soient délimitées au plus tôt: elles devraient l'être (2937) par quatre gouvernements et non point par trois seulement.

Pour votre information strictement confidentielle, j'ajoute que les Britanniques se sont jusqu'ici refusés à ce que Cologne soit inclus dans notre zone.

Tout récemment, une nouvelle démarche a été faite à Londres pour souligner l'importance essentielle que nous attachons à l'occupation de Cologne par nos troupes.

Suivant des renseignements recueillis par un officier britannique du Service des renseignements, les Yougoslaves pousseraient leurs revendications sur la Macédonie grecque dans le cas où la monarchie serait rétablie en Grèce. Belgrade considérerait le retour du Roi GEORGES comme un obstacle définitif à l'entente des deux peuples. Yougoslaves seraient persuadés au reste qu'ils trouveront de nombreux appuis dans la province (83 missing).
