Sasquatches, Sea Snakes, and Fairies, Oh My! A Closer Look at North American Creatures
North America is deeply attached to its landscape. The vast stretches of forest, deep and sprawling lakes, fields that stretch past what the eye can see, and the rocky mountains with numerous undiscovered cracks and crevices. At one point, North America was a great mystery to be discovered. Over time the convergence of Indigenous culture and European tradition have come together to create a complex history and lore.
The complex tradition covering the North American landscape has formed a deep and engaging folklore. Within these stories lies a collection of creatures and beasts whose stories impact a range of communities. In this virtual exhibit, you will get the chance to discover some of North America's unique creatures. From underwater sea monsters to six-foot-tall moth-human hybrids North American creatures play a prominent role in folklore across the land.
