Description
Fishtown was a seasonal district on Alexandria's Wharf. A collection of wooden shacks and temporary buildings, fishtown housed a variety of fish-related businesses, such as catching, salting, packing, and serving. Fishtown was predominantly habituated by African Americans, who worked as dock hands and factory workers.
