Description
Fifteen years before the National War Memorial in Ottawa was constructed to represent the contribution of the CEF in the First World War, Newfoundland erected its National War Memorial in 1924 to commemorate all of Newfoundland's wartime achievements on land and sea. It was unveiled by Field Marshall Haig on the anniversary of the Battle at Beaumont Hamel on July 1, 1924.
