This costume sketch was first created by Brian Jackson for the 1972 production of the opera "Cosi fan tutte" composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and reprised for Festival Canada the following year. This sketch is assumed to be for the disguise costume created for Allan Monk and John Stewart and their characters Ferrando and Guglielmo. The drawing does not include the cape or belt found within the archive of the physical costume.

Transcription of text on title page: Sketches in Canada, and rambles among the red men. / By Mrs. Jameson. / New edition. / London: / Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans. / 1852." The title page represents a reprint book of the most interesting chapters of the book <em>Winter Studies and Summer Rambles in Canada</em>, which was first published in 1838. In it, Jameson describes her travels from Toronto through southwestern Ontario, up to Sault Ste. Marie and back. Her book is written as a travel log and recounts her experience traveling through the upper Canada wilderness and her interactions with Indigenous peoples.
