Description
Jennifer Hodge de Silva is one of the most well-known Black Canadian Directors in this country. Her works were so revolutionary that they continue to be talked about well past her life. Hodge was a Montreal born creator that transcended in the film scenes with her documentaries. She is a pioneer to the industry especially for working at the NFB and finding many bodies of work with them. On her own her first directorial debut was Canada Vignettes: Helen Law (1979). Although her life was short, her impact was major, creating many documentaries and projects through her years. Her documentary Home Feeling: Struggle for a Community is still talked about in film classes now. Her ability to create visually beautiful strong work will likely continue to be recognized forever.
