"Ninth Floor Troubles"

Dublin Core

Title

"Ninth Floor Troubles"

Description

A journal article on Ninth Floor Troubles, Crisis at Sir George, and An(other) Antilles, 3 documentaries about the Sir George Williams affair, comparing and contrasting them and their availability. The article makes several good points about the portrayal of events in media, and how subtle differences can shape our understanding. As well as how the availability of this information also determines the story, especially important to keep in mind now that many sources are using algorithms to control what you see and what you don't. Much has been suppressed about the Sir George Williams affair over time, first the accusations of the students, later racist letters from university faculty, knowledge of the event among students " A Concordia student during the 1980s, Morel was particularly intrigued because she had heard nothing of the event.", and the current availability of films about the event.
