Description

Menelik Hall—Sydney, Cape Breton. The hall was constructed between 1935 and 1936 by Black residents of Sydney. In the hall Marcus Garvey gave his "the work that has been done" speech in 1937 to members of the Sydney branch of the UNIA. This was during his run of travelling and speaking to all 3 of the UNIA chapters in Cape Breton: Glace Bay, Sydney, and New Waterford.
