Title

"Black Community Fights AIDS Battle"

Description

Following the release of the racialized statistics, Doug Stewart, the Chairman for the Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention, sent a letter to the editor who wrote the article expressing his stance on the matter. He expressed that the overall education of AIDS was far more of a prioritising cause that releasing these statistics was imperative to the prevention of the spread of HIV, especially in Black communities. This raises the point that transparency from public health administrations is a crucial element to fighting epidemics. Even if data raised debates surrounding it, it still provoked community discussion around the cause, therefore raising awareness and educating the city as a whole.
