Title

Coming To Voice: Black Film & Video Makers In Canada

Description

This is a preview from a 1999 documentary which included two of the most important testimonies of the Black Canadian directors scenes. Both Roger McTair, and Claire Prieto (Amongst other directors) talk about in a short 10 minutes their reason for turning to film. Their names are especially important in the industry, because they are known for creating the first Black Canadian documentary “Some Black Women (1975)”. Their time spent in the industry has really given a name to the art and allowed other Black artists' voices to be heard everywhere. They are both veterans and the fact there is a documentary about them shows their impact.
