Derek Douglas Carter is a composer and conductor whose music has been performed across the eastern United States, as well as in Canada, Poland, and Spain. He has worked with ensembles including Ensemble Dal Niente, Beo String Quartet, E-Mex Ensemble, Ensemble Paramirabo, Longleash, Durward Ensemble, Orlando Cela, Mieko Kanno, and a plethora of student performers and ensembles. Carter holds a BM in Music Composition/Theory from Illinois State, as well as an MM in Music Composition and an MM in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Louisville.
