She got enlisted in the Canadian Army Medical Corps as a part of the Army Force. She served at the Halifax Infirmary in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was 28 years old when she was in the Army. She was a Christian and she was referred to as a 'sister' in the medical corps alongside many other women who were all called collectively as 'sisters' . She died in January 1918 after suffering from pneumonia. She was buried in her family plot in Halifax, Nova Scotia called HILLSBOROUGH (ELMWOOD) PROTESTANT CEMETERY.
