Title A name given to the resource Bertha Bartlett Description An account of the resource Bertha Bartlett was born in 1894 in Newfoundland and in 1916, at the age of 21, she decided to volunteer with the Canadian Military Voluntary Aid Detachment overseas. Bertha would find herself working in two military hospitals in England over the course of her service. Bertha proved to be an outstanding nurse and worked through the Spanish flu pandemic of the time in 1918. Bertha cared for many who were infected with the disease and later contracted the virus. Bertha passed away from the Spanish flu on November 3, 1918 and was laid to rest in Wandsworth (Earlsfield) Cemetery, London.
