Hennepin went to Lake Ontario in the spring of 1676 to replace Father Léonard Duchesne at Cataracoui, (now known as Kingston, Ont). Here, he built a “mission house” that many Iroquois people inhabited. He went back to Quebec for priestly duties in 1678.
