The Ditson publishing company was a force to be reckoned with in the music publishing world of the early 20th century. As can be seen in samples from this research project, the Ditson company had roots in many of the major American cities, allowing them to access a large network of musicians, composers, and consumers. A few of those companies are represented in our samples and will be discussed in detail. These include Lyon & Healy, Chas. H. Ditson & Co., and S.T. Gordon. Furthermore, Ditson had a relationship with a International Network of publishers in Canadian and European locations. This exhibit explores the widespread reach of the Ditson company and their resulting success.
