A short history of the ukulele and its rise to popularity in the early 20th century. Examines the connectinon between the ukulele and gender roles and the effect it had on the teenage identity. Traces the emergence of the banjulele and the Keech brothers. Finally, the contributions of two famous ukulele players, Cliff Edwards (Ukulele Ike) and May Singhi Breen are detailed.
