On seeing the sky this morning it [pressed] [pevnainily] to land for the air was warmer and smoky. We all regretted our arrival on terra finera. Owen Sound was reached shortly after 10 am and by 11 we were being hurled along at a good rate to Toronto. At Orangeville we dined. The heat grew in intensity till Toronto gave it the climax, we were an hour in the latter city where I purchased a bicycle for Lulu, bring the [pemmican] [consolation] to him for remaining at home, as I had wired Marie to bring all the children to Lake Superior. Max enjoyed the short stay here seeing king St. +C. By the time we again reached the cars Marie was about overcome by the heat but the application of cold water to her head revived her. [We] arrived at Galt shortly after 7 PM, a carriage awaited us + we all (7) drove together to Preston, glad to reach home, but wishing for the cool air of Port Arthur. Lulu was pleased with his bicycle, but unfortunately Oskar’s legs just lack sufficient to disable him from riding it, altho’ he has grown considerable this summer; I may saw too that he feels very proud that he has learned to swim now.
The usual narratives of trips +c were made, on this occasion I was relived to a great extent as Marie had been along, for what to her was new or a novelty has long ago been commonplace to me in my many years travels.
