Arrived in Ottawa this morning. I attended the fore + afternoon sessions of the Board of Examiners. I was sworn in by Judge S. H. Strong.
We had to refuse two candidates – Quebec P. L. J.’s who through the ignorance of one secretary in not knowing that Quebec no longer reciprocates with the Dom. Land Surveyors in Examination had allowed them (the two) to make application and receive it. No member of the Board knew of the change till a few days ago, altho’ it was [ascuted] to 21 June 1886. We have only two other candidates. The other members of the Board present were B. McGrath, Dorian, A. C. Webb and W. J. King. The Surveyor General was in a short time.
