              <text>Michaela Goade is a Caldecott Medal-winning illustrator of Indigenous children's literature. As an artist, Goade draws inspiration from the coastal landscapes of Southeast Alaska, where she lives. Goade completed a bachelor's in graphic design and marketing from Fort Lewis College and served for two years as an art director for Yuit Communications in Anchorage before becoming a full-time freelance artist. Goade is of mixed Indigenous and northern European descent and identifies most with her Tlingit heritage. </text>
