Description
This work displays the printer’s device of Simon de Colines. De Colines (ca. 1475-1546) was active in Paris from about 1520 until his death in 1546. De Colines had actually collaborated with printer Henri Estienne (1528-1598), continuing printing operations of Henri Estienne’s shop with Estienne’s sons François and Robert (and marrying Henri’s widow, as well) upon the death of their father in 1520. De Colines is known for publishing texts of the Greek and Latin classical authors in especially elegant Greek and Italic fonts.
