Bookstores, Publishing Houses, Periodicals
The late 1960s to the 1990s witnessed a significant boom in women's literature and in the women's publication industry. Specialized bookshops and publishing houses produced specialized literature by, and for, women. Numerous newsletters, newspapers, and magazines played a central role in disseminating feminist ideas and in documenting women's lobbying actions. The plethora of women’s publications attest to the diversity of contemporary feminist ideologies and their related activisms. We invite you to explore this timeline that features archival documents from publishing houses and from publications held within the University of Ottawa’s Canadian Women's Movement Archives Collection.
