Presentation of the Results - Findings

In my presentation of the results I chose to look first at the directors because they are the ones who are awarded the Palme d’Or prize; second, I compare the cast leads and character leads because this is the main visible representation of the films; third I identified minoritized groups to look more closely at each of the main facets of identity (gender, race, sexual orientation, and disability-type) and shine a spotlight on those most underrepresented in my data. Following this initial look, I also created tables on the Palme d’Or prize winners, one each for the directors, cast leads, and character leads.

In designing my graphics, I aimed as much as possible to use shades of red to represent the red carpet at the Festival de Cannes, or shades of gold/yellow to represent the competition’s golden prize.

To begin the presentation of my results, I’ve included a map below showing the different countries of all the directors in the competition.
