Notes about the text: "The Words adapted by permission of the Authoress, Christina Rossetti" (title page). Rossetti met personally with Emanuel Aguilar to discuss the textual revisions to her poem, and she gave her explicit approval to the adapted and abridged text of “Goblin Market” that serves as Aguilar's libretto. The libretto is thus an authorially approved variant text of "Goblin Market."
